Community in Crisis, Inc.

Our Projects

We have recently completed a substantial grant delivering training in community disaster preparedness to vulnerable populations in eastern North Carolina. This included Latino churches, the elderly, and communities in rural areas. Training has been offered in over fifty churches and civic groups in the past three years.

Past efforts have included creating disaster mental health audio broadcasts for World Harvest Radio that were heard in three continents via shortwave satellite radio. These broadcasts taught basic mental health and disaster preparedness in simple, easy-to-understand terminology.

We are currently teaching trauma mental health in churches, lay counseling, and will be traveling to El Salvadore in July to train
pastors in the EUMC in trauma mental health.

At this time out organization is staffed by volunteers and
one part-time program director. A board of directors includes various professionals located throughout eastern N. C.
